Good news has reached Finnish fans from the NHL, as the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, who is leading the league by a wide margin, Jared Bednar, shared new information about his injured players.

According to Bednar, the Olympic team selection includes a trio currently injured: Joel Kiviranta, Devon Toews, and Gabriel Landeskog. The Olympic journey for the first two mentioned is not in jeopardy. However, Landeskog’s participation in the tournament will be determined later.

The news shared by Bednar is a great relief for the Olympic teams of Finland and Canada. Bednar stated that both Kiviranta and Toews will be sidelined from action for several weeks regardless. The condition of the injured goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is also being monitored week by week.

Kiviranta, selected for the Lions’ Olympic team, last represented Finland in major tournaments in the spring of 2019, when Finland, with an unnamed lineup, sensationally won the World Championship gold.

All of the injured #Avs - Landeskog, Toews, Kiviranta and Blackwood are week-to-week. Sounds like Blackwood could be the first back, then the middle too, then the captain.

Jared Bednar said Toews and Kiviranta should have no issues with the Olympics, still TBD for Landeskog.
