New information has emerged about Jesse Puljujärvi, who has become the target of criticism.
ZÜRICH. Jesse Puljujärvi became the target of an ugly stunt in Thursday’s World Championship match against Latvia. The buzzer sounded at the end of the second period when Kristaps Zile hit Puljujärvi in the neck with a cross-check. After the match, the Finnish forward was still complaining about his neck.
On Friday, during the Lions’ morning practice, Finland’s assistant coach Mikko Manner revealed that there is no cause for concern regarding Puljujärvi.
– He should be fine, Manner said.
So far in the tournament, Puljujärvi has scored 3+2 points in four games. Manner also praises the forward’s incredible form.
– He has been super good here, especially on the power play. He stands right in front of the goalie all the time, and that’s why he has scored those goals.
Although Puljujärvi does not dominate the NHL or has not won Stanley Cup championships, he is one of the most recognized figures in Finnish hockey. According to Manner, such players are valuable.
