MTV: The hockey club’s sauna night got out of hand – junior hockey players suspected of a crime
The April sauna night of the Savonlinna Ball Club’s under-18 ice hockey team has led to a criminal investigation. One or more players are suspected of a crime related to the events of the evening, reports MTV.
During the sauna night, one of the team’s players was taped with equipment tape, and a photo was taken of this. The player could not free himself from the tape without the help of others.
The victim of the taping felt that the situation occurred against his will and threatened his health. The player filed a police report. The matter is still under investigation by the Eastern Finland police, with suspicions of assault and deprivation of liberty.
Within SaPKo, the response to the incident was that two players involved in the taping were suspended from the club’s activities until the end of August. The players took the matter to the Sports Legal Protection Board, which subsequently overturned the club’s imposed ban.
According to the players, the taping did not occur against the will of the taped individual. Two other players present, on the other hand, supported the taped player’s view in their accounts that the taping was done against the will of the taped individual.
