MTV Sports: A surprising sight at the league club’s training – a top name present!
Kristian Näkyvä, 34, is currently training with Kiekko-Espoo, MTV Urheilu reports.
According to Kiekko-Espoo’s sports director Kim Hirschovits, Näkyvä is maintaining his fitness with the team, and no contract negotiations have taken place. The defender, who rose to the Liiga map from the Espoon Blues juniors, had his contract with Timrå IK end after last season.
– He has been involved in our practices. He gets to train according to the team’s daily rhythm and prepare for the ice hockey season.
– We offer a top player the opportunity to train, and he brings quality and example to our daily training, Hirschovits tells MTV.
Näkyvä has played the last 11 seasons abroad, nine of which were spent in the SHL, one in the AHL, and one in Switzerland.
In the Liiga, Näkyvä last played during the 2013-14 season in JYP’s colors.
