Antti Pennanen’s revelation about Mikael Granlund, Konsta Helenius, and Urho Vaakanainen for the Latvia game
Mikael Granlund arrives in Zurich on Wednesday and plays against Latvia on Thursday. Konsta Helenius, on the other hand, will join the team only on Thursday.
Granlund plays on the first line with Aleksander Barkov and Lenni Hämeenaho. Janne Kuokkanen, who practiced on the first line during Wednesday’s training, will move to the 13th forward position.
Head coach Antti Pennanen also revealed that Urho Vaakanainen will not play against Latvia. The defenseman missed the Lions’ training on Wednesday due to an injury.
However, it was not said that Vaakanainen’s tournament is over, so the defenseman may recover with a little rest. Vaakanainen was injured in the USA match from a hit by Mathieu Olivier.
Finland practiced on Wednesday with renewed line combinations. There will still be changes to the forward lines as Granlund and Helenius join in.
The Lions had a rest day on Tuesday, and the team returned to training on Wednesday, but the games will continue only on Thursday against Latvia.
