MM sensation Norwegian star player attracts attention – several NHL teams on the trail
The 24-year-old forward Eskild Bakke Olsen, representing Norway in the World Championships, has attracted the interest of several NHL teams, reports Daily Faceoff journalist Steven Ellis to the Norwegian Nitten.no site.
Ellis does not know exactly which teams or how many interested teams are following Bakke Olsen. However, he mentions that several teams are keeping an eye on him.
– A scout asked me to watch him before the tournament. He has everything that NHL teams are looking for and has the potential to be a third or fourth line forward, Ellis said.
Bakke Olsen himself comments on the rumors moderately.
– There are indeed some rumors, but I focus on what I am doing now. I will do everything for Norway.
Norway is playing a strong World Championship tournament. They have sensationally advanced to the top four and will face Switzerland in the semifinals on Saturday. Bakke Olsen has scored 2+3 points in the tournament’s eight games.
Last season, Bakke Olsen recorded 11+21=32 points in 51 games with Linköping HC in Sweden’s SHL. This was his first SHL season. Bakke Olsen’s contract with Linköping is valid until the spring of 2028.
Before the past season, Bakke Olsen played two seasons in Allsvenskan. Prior to that, he played in his home country’s top league.
Bakke Olsen, playing in his third World Championship, is not drafted by the NHL.
