MM gold medalist defenseman signed an NHL contract – returns across the pond after a three-year break

The San Jose Sharks have signed a one-year, two-way contract with Czech defenseman Libor Hajek. The contract is worth $850,000.
Hajek, 28, is a familiar name in the NHL, but he has spent the last two and a half seasons in his home country with HC Dynamo Pardubice. At the end of last season, Hajek won a championship with the team. He played 44 regular-season games, scoring 6+7=13 points, and 17 playoff games with 0+3 points.
From 2018 to 2023, Hajek played in the NHL representing the New York Rangers. During that time, he accumulated 110 games with 4+8=12 points.
Hajek has represented the Czech Republic four times in the World Championships. He was part of the team that won the world championship in 2024.
