Mikko Rantanen’s giant trade is brewing in Dallas – the biggest trade bomb of the NHL summer?
Trade rumors surrounding Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson and Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin have intensified.
According to Fourth Period editor-in-chief David Pagnotta, Dallas is believed to be ready to send restricted free agent Robertson to Detroit as part of a trade that would see Larkin moving in the opposite direction.
Robertson has been one of Dallas’s key players in recent years alongside Finnish stars Roope Hintz, Mikko Rantanen, and Miro Heiskanen. However, his future with the Stars has been uncertain for a long time, as the parties have not reached an agreement on a new contract.
Larkin has also been the subject of trade rumors over the summer after it was reported that he requested a trade to another team.
Larkin has a no-trade clause in his contract. However, reports indicate that he has accepted Florida, Dallas, Vegas, and Minnesota as potential new teams.
A possible arrangement may not necessarily occur as a direct trade between Robertson and Larkin. According to Yahoo Sports, Detroit may not be interested in Robertson in return, which is why a three-team trade has also been discussed. The Pittsburgh Penguins have been mentioned as a possible third party.
