Mikko Rantanen faced a ruthless reception – fell into the audience’s jaws
The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Dallas Stars in the NHL with a score of 6-3. This was the first time that Mikko Rantanen played in Carolina’s home arena after leaving the team, having represented it for just over a month last season.
Rantanen received a harsh reception in his old home arena. When he jumped on the ice for the first time, the crowd booed him loudly. The stands also echoed with shouts of “Mikko sucks.”
In the final period, Rantanen received a penalty for slashing. While sitting in the penalty box, he was shown on the arena’s media cube with the text “cheaters never win” appearing (video below and here).
Rantanen finished the game with stats of 1+1. He has scored 59 points this season in 42 games with 17+42=59, ranking sixth in the points race. You can see Rantanen’s goal below or here.
