Mikko Lehtonen signed a new contract – his career continues in a familiar club for a long time.
Finnish defender Mikko Lehtonen, 31, will continue his career in Switzerland for a long time.
NL club ZSC Lions announces that they have extended Lehtonen’s contract by two years. Lehtonen’s previous contract covers the upcoming season, so with the new contract, he will remain with the team until spring 2028.
Lehtonen has played three seasons with ZSC Lions. Last season, he recorded 50 regular season games with points of 5+19=24 and 16 playoff games with stats of 1+8. Lehtonen has won the Swiss championship twice with the club and once the CHL championship.
In his national team career, Lehtonen has played in six World Championships and two Olympics. He has won Olympic gold and two world championships. In last spring’s World Championship tournament, he served as the captain of the Lions.
ZSC Lions also secured Czech goalie Simon Hrubec until 2028. He has represented the club for as long as Lehtonen.
