Major revelation about Jevgeni Malkin’s future plans!
Jevgeni Malkin, 39, has been one of several aging superstars of the Pittsburgh Penguins whose name has been circulating in trade rumors in recent years. According to rumors, Pittsburgh is interested in trading Malkin, while the Russian center is keen on finishing his hockey career with the Penguins, the team he has represented throughout his NHL career.
The trade rumors surrounding Malkin are not materializing. The Athletic reporter Josh Yohe recently made a major revelation about the Russian forward’s future.
– Malkin’s stance has not changed at all. He is willing to sign a one-year extension, he is ready to take a pay cut from his $6.1 million annual salary, and he has no interest in playing for any other team. He understands that this may be his last season, but he does not want to retire yet, Yohe writes.
– The Penguins were not interested in offering him an extension at the end of last season. His performance this season – ten goals and 35 points in 33 games – has exceeded all expectations. But he turns 40 this summer and has missed 13 games or more in eleven of the last fourteen seasons.
According to Yohe, Malkin is either continuing his career in Pittsburgh or retiring. With his current performances, it would be surprising if the Penguins were not signing a one-year and affordable extension with their franchise legend.
