SHL: Växjö Lakers’ Otto Koivula‘s career continuation is in jeopardy, says the forward’s club manager.

Koivula, 27, who returned to Europe last season, is suffering from an injury that, according to Smålandsposten, could potentially end the playing career of the 195-centimeter tall forward giant.

– This is an injury that we cannot resolve so that Otto would be one hundred percent healthy. Few players in the team are completely healthy, but they can still play, Växjö’s sports director Henrik Evertsson commented in an interview with the newspaper.

– The question is whether Otto can play with his injury. So far, it has not gone well. We may find a workable way to adapt to it. If that doesn’t work either, a procedure will be needed, or it is even possible that playing can no longer continue, the club manager explains Koivula’s situation, which was also seen last season with the Lions.

Koivula played 30 regular season games in the SHL last season, with stats of 5+10=15. In the league, he has represented Ilves and HIFK. Koivula also has 28 NHL games to his name.
