In the NHL, Juuso Välimäki, who was placed on the waiver list by the Utah Mammoth, continues his career with a new team.
No other NHL team picked up the 27-year-old Finnish defenseman from the waiver list within 24 hours, resulting in the Mammoth now assigning Välimäki to their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.
Välimäki, who enjoys a two million dollar annual salary, has been out of play since spring due to a knee ACL injury. Last season, Välimäki played 43 NHL games, recording 2+3=5 points.
With a background from Ilves, Välimäki has played 271 regular season games in the NHL, with stats of 11+61=72.
