Lauri Marjamäki uploaded direct text from Canada on MTV: “Throwing such a Bulgarian”
The Lions won the semifinals of the World Championships on Saturday against Canada 4-2 and advanced to the final against Switzerland on Sunday.
The former head coach of the Lions, Lauri Marjamäki, who will lead the Swiss team EV Zug next season, shared his observations about the semifinal match between Finland and Canada with MTV. He saw a lot of good in Finland’s play, while Canada’s performance left him astonished.
– It’s definitely a team against individuals. Finland plays disciplined, changes from the offensive zone, and gets a lot of long attacks because everyone is committed, Marjamäki started.
– I have to wonder about Canada. John Tavares makes a play like that in the neutral zone when facing the line of (Aleksander) Barkov, which led to the third goal. There’s something strange about Canada, as they play very recklessly and not at all together.
Marjamäki also criticized that some of the big names on the Canadian team did not stand out on the ice at all.
– It doesn’t matter what names there are if they play at that rhythm. When they lose the puck, they go for a change. Finland gets three-on-ones and three-on-twos. Everything is falling into Finland’s lap, Marjamäki concluded.
