The Finnish NHL star Patrik Laine is once again at the center of trade rumors. His situation was discussed in the latest Kimanttia podcast, where the well-informed commentator Antti Mäkinen spoke about it.

In the podcast, former NHL star Kimmo Timonen directly asked if there have been any concrete trade news surrounding Laine. According to Mäkinen, the situation is changing rapidly, and a radical solution could be on the horizon if Laine stays in Montreal.

– The situation now is that if no trade happens by Friday evening, he will probably not play again this season, Mäkinen revealed.

He also confirmed that the Los Angeles Kings are interested in Laine:

– The Kings came to the table, left, and came back. That window is still open.

Additionally, Mäkinen mentioned that he has heard two other teams have inquired about Laine’s situation, but he did not disclose their names.

– I hope for Patrik’s sake that he gets to play, because he wants to play. He has been in playing condition for a while now, but if the trade doesn’t happen, the spring might be long, Mäkinen says.

Laine’s contract expires after this season, and he will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer. According to Mäkinen, upcoming offers could be short-term and not large multi-year deals.
