Kasperi Kapanen: NHL team changing!
Finnish forward Kasperi Kapanen may change teams for the next NHL season. His contract with the Edmonton Oilers expires at the beginning of July, and there have been no signs of a renewal so far.
According to David Pagnottan, the editor-in-chief of The Fourth Period, Kapanen might once again be testing the free market during the summer.
– I might be wrong about Kasperi Kapanen, but I believe he will go back to the free market. I could certainly be wrong about this, Pagnotta assessed.
Kapanen managed to raise his stock during the spring playoffs. He scored four goals and collected a total of six points.
In the regular season, the Finnish player’s responsibility was smaller. Kapanen played 41 games and recorded eight goals and a total of 17 points.
Kapanen, who will turn 30 in July, is a new father, which may affect his future decisions in searching for a new team.
In recent years, Kapanen has played on two consecutive one-year NHL contracts. Their value was 1.3 million and one million dollars per season. Earlier in his career, he also had two three-year contracts, with an average annual salary of about 3.2 million dollars.
