Kärpät loses its star player – Aku Räty signed an NHL contract!

Edmonton Oilers announces that they have signed a one-year, two-way contract with Finnish forward Aku Räty. The contract is worth $850,000.
Räty, 24, was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 5th round of the 2019 draft. He played one NHL game in the 2023-24 season with Arizona, recording one assist. Otherwise, Räty spent the 2023-25 seasons in the AHL, playing a total of 120 games with 21+48=69 points.
In the past season, Räty represented Kärpät in the Liiga, where he scored 57 points in 51 games with 20+37=57, ranking seventh in the league’s scoring list. Räty’s contract with Kärpät would have also covered next season.
