Kaapo Kakko: big news
Due to a hand fracture sustained during the preseason, Kaapo Kakko, who has been sidelined for the first ten games of the NHL regular season, is close to returning to action.
The 24-year-old Finnish winger of the Seattle Kraken has been practicing this week on the team’s third line alongside Shane Wright and Mason Marchment.
– He looks really good. He is still on the injured list, but he is already getting more responsibility and we are working towards his return, head coach Lane Lambert commented on the NHL’s official website.
– He is big and can hold onto the puck. We need more offensive power and his return will bring us more physicality and puck control, Lambert assessed the added value Kakko brings to the team.
The opening game of the season for the Turku native’s second overall pick may fall at the tastiest possible time, as the Kraken will host Kakko’s former team, the New York Rangers, in the early hours of Sunday.
