Joonas Korpisalo was traded in the NHL – in exchange for another Finnish player
Joonas Korpisalo, who has played two seasons with the Boston Bruins, is switching teams in the NHL. The New York Rangers announced on Wednesday that they have acquired the 32-year-old Finnish goalie.
The Bruins will receive in exchange the Finnish forward Kalle Väisänen, 23, and a fourth-round draft pick in the summer of 2028.
Korpisalo played 31 games last season with a save percentage of 89.4 and an average of 3.15 goals against. The contract of the fresh World Championship gold medalist, which includes an annual salary of four million dollars, lasts for another two seasons.
Having played 11 seasons in the NHL, Korpisalo has previously represented the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, Ottawa Senators, and most recently the Bruins.
The 195 cm tall Väisänen is a fourth-round draft pick of the Rangers. Väisänen played last season in the AHL, where he recorded 4 points (3+1) in 51 games.
