Jokerit made its decision – the flopping goalie has to go!
Jokerit has decided to seek a new team for goalkeeper Veini Vehviläinen.
Jokerit announced on Wednesday on X that the club and Vehviläinen have agreed to look for a new playing opportunity for the goalkeeper outside the organization.
Vehviläinen is training independently outside the team’s activities while searching for a new club.
Vehviläinen, 29, played only three games for Jokerit this season with a save percentage of 82.8. He quickly fell out of favor and did not receive any more playing time after Tomi Karhunen joined the team. In addition to Karhunen, the Jokerit goaltending department also includes Olle Eriksson Ek.
Vehviläinen also represented Jokerit last season in the Mestis league. He helped the team win the Mestis championship. Vehviläinen played 33 regular season games with a save percentage of 92.6 and 14 playoff games with a save percentage of 91.8.
