A completely ridiculous move in the league – superstar bit an opponent!
TPS’s star forward Lukas Wernblom was ejected from Saturday’s Liiga match against Lukko for an unusual reason. The Swedish forward was found to have bitten Lukko’s defender Petro Seppälä on the hand.
The incident began in the first period during a scuffle in front of the goal, where Wernblom was wrestling with Lukko players. The referee was also involved in the player cluster, trying to calm the situation.
After the scuffle, Seppälä was seen holding his finger in pain. The officiating crew reviewed the events for a long time on video and ultimately decided to eject Wernblom from the game for biting.
The ejection was a significant setback for TPS. The team lost its top line’s star forward, who has accumulated the same number of points in 17 games this season.
TPS will have to play the rest of the game without Wernblom in front of their sold-out home crowd.
