TAMPERE. Jesse Puljujärvi was one of the most visible players for the Lions in the opening game against Switzerland, which ended in a 1-3 loss, at the EHT tournament held in Tampere.

Puljujärvi created several impressive offensive plays in the first period, especially with the first line center Sakari Manninen and the second winger Patrik Puistola, but the finishing touch was missing.

– Towards the end, Switzerland was good and we got a bit outplayed. We need to find efficiency in 5 vs 5 play.

Puljujärvi was ultimately not satisfied with his own performance either.

– It wasn’t anything special, I want to be able to do better.

Puljujärvi’s returning puck confidence from the start of the season in Switzerland was evident in his bold decisions, especially in the first period.

– These are the things I have been trying to do there (in Switzerland) and I hope to bring them here even more.

Puljujärvi promises a more aggressive and overall better performance from the entire team in the weekend matches against the Czech Republic and Sweden.

– Absolutely! It can’t stay like this. I believe we will take steps from this. Everyone takes it personally and fixes little things, so I think we will be much better on Saturday, Puljujärvi promises.

The Lions will face the Czech Republic in a match starting at 5 PM on Saturday. The tournament concludes on Sunday with a match against Sweden.
