Jesse Puljujärvi came close to scoring the winning goal in the final: “In the end, the most important thing is…”
The Lions’ gold celebrations are currently underway in Helsinki.
The Finnish team member who performed strongly in the World Championships, Jesse Puljujärvi, told SuomiKiekko during the celebrations that the recent world championship is the greatest achievement of his career so far.
– That’s the thing at the adult level when you get to play as a professional. It’s a great thing, Puljujärvi reflected.
Puljujärvi shared his thoughts on what made the Finnish team so strong this spring. He emphasized the diverse skills within the team.
– As a team, we bonded together and there wasn’t a single weak link.
The final was decided by Konsta Helenius‘ overtime goal with a score of 1-0. Puljujärvi also had the opportunity to secure the championship for Finland at the start of overtime. However, his shot hit the post.
– I got up to good speed and managed to fire a little wrist shot, it went to the post. But in the end, the most important thing is that we got this, Puljujärvi stated, showing his gold medal.
In the end, Helenius fired the puck into the Swiss net and the celebrations for the Finns were ready to begin.
– It was a good feeling. We went out to celebrate and that’s where we are now, Puljujärvi concluded.
