Jarmo Kekäläinen’s first pick was traded in the NHL!
Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins made a player trade involving two players and two draft picks in the NHL on Monday evening Finnish time.
In the trade, the Penguins receive Jarmo Kekäläinen‘s Blue Jackets’ 1st round pick, 21st overall, from the 2020 draft, Jegor Tshinakhov, 24. The Russian forward, who previously requested a trade to the Blue Jackets, has played 29 games this season with stats of 3+3=6.
Tshinakhov, earning 2.1 million dollars this season, has a contract that expires at the end of this season. Overall, the forward has played 204 games in the NHL with stats of 37+40=77.
The Blue Jackets receive forward Danton Heinen, 30, as well as 2nd round (2026) and 3rd round (2027) draft picks in the trade. Heinen, earning 2.25 million dollars this season, has played 13 NHL games this season (1+1) and 12 AHL games (6+11=17).
We've received a 2026 2nd-RD pick, a 2027 3rd-RD pick and F Danton Heinen from the @penguins in exchange for F Yegor Chinakhov.
