Jarmo Kekäläinen was left with a bone in his hand: NHL superstar said “no thanks”
The trade between the St. Louis Blues and the Buffalo Sabres will not take place, as defenseman Colton Parayko exercised the no-trade clause in his contract and prevented his move to Buffalo. This was reported by insider Elliotte Friedman.
Earlier on Thursday, reporter Darren Dreger reported that the Sabres, led by GM Jarmo Kekäläinen, were close to finalizing a deal with the Blues. According to the plan, the Blues would have received 18-year-old defense prospect Radim Mrtka and a first-round draft pick in return.
According to Daily Faceoff reporter Frank Seravalli, Parayko is still open to a trade, although his primary wish is to remain with the Blues.
– I have been told that Parayko is open to a trade to another team – although of course he would prefer to stay in St. Louis. The question now is: is there another team willing to pay the same price that Buffalo put on the table? Seravalli writes on X.
The 32-year-old Parayko has played his entire NHL career with the Blues. He has represented the team for 11 seasons and was part of the team that won the Stanley Cup championship in 2019.
In the current season, Parayko has played 58 games and recorded 1+14 points.
