GM Jarmo Kekäläinen is finalizing a major defenseman trade for the Buffalo Sabres. The team is acquiring Colton Parayko from the St. Louis Blues, reports TSN journalist Darren Dreger.
The trade still requires Parayko’s approval, but it is believed to go through.
The Blues will receive 18-year-old Radim Mrtka and a first-round draft pick in return. Mrtka was the Sabres’ 9th overall pick last summer.
32-year-old Parayko has played his entire 11-year NHL career in St. Louis and won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2019. This season, he has recorded 1 goal and 14 assists in 58 games.
The Canadian Olympic defenseman is in the fourth year of his eight-year, $52 million contract.
