Jan-Mikael Järvinen: the team is changing!
Porin Ässät will lose their experienced first center Jan-Mikael Järvinen after the current season. The club confirmed this in a statement thanking their long-time captain in a press release.
The 38-year-old Järvinen represented Ässät for four seasons and served on the team’s captaincy every season. In the current Liiga season, Järvinen played 60 regular season games with stats of 11+27=38.
– Thank you Jan-Mikael Järvinen! Four seasons with Ässät, four seasons in the captaincy. Three quarter-finals and two seasons as captain. One World Championship. You not only raised the bar. You helped build it, Ässät thanked in the statement.

In recent years, Järvinen has also been a regular face in the national team. He represented Finland in last spring’s World Championships in Stockholm and played in the EHT tournament held in Tampere at the beginning of the season.
Yle Urheilu reported last year that Järvinen’s career will continue next season with Tampereen Ilves.
