It was there – The league’s long-term foreign reinforcement hangs up the skates
The Swedish forward Sebastian Stålberg, 36, who has played in the league for the past six seasons, has decided to end his playing career. He announces his retirement decision on his Instagram account.
Stålberg primarily played in Finland for Sport, also serving as the team’s captain for three seasons. Additionally, he played for Kärpät from January last season and represented TPS at the end of the 2022-23 season. Stålberg played a total of 346 regular season games in the league, scoring 69+89=158 points and 15 playoff games with 2+3 points.
Last season, Stålberg recorded 23 points (9+14) in 35 games for Sport. After his transfer, he scored 4 points (1+3) in 21 games for Kärpät.
Earlier in his career, Stålberg represented Frölunda in his home country, where he won the SHL championship twice and the CHL championship four times. He also played 110 games in the AHL.
In conjunction with his announcement, Stålberg states that he will move to Gothenburg and start working as an insurance advisor at Söderberg & Partners.
