Patrik Laine is currently one of the most talked-about players in the NHL both in Finland and North America. Everyone knows Laine’s goal-scoring abilities, but injuries have plagued the Finnish forward’s recent seasons.

SuomiKiekko asked another Finnish top scorer, Teemu Selänne, if he believes that Patrik Laine can still reach NHL level.

– Yes, for Pate to succeed, it would require access to two playing lines and a significant role on the power play. I see no reason why he couldn’t achieve that, Selänne assessed.

– If he is physically and mentally intact, then there is definitely potential there. He will surely get some kind of opportunity if he wants it. I don’t know for sure, but I have a feeling that he has a strong desire to come back.

Speculation about Laine’s next team is heating up. Selänne sees that there is a high demand for a player like Laine, but success requires the right environment.

– I’m sure every team could use him. It just requires a coach who wants him and believes that he will succeed and help the team.
