IS: Former league hockey player misbehaved significantly – prison sentence!
A hockey player who has played in the SM-liiga has been sentenced to conditional imprisonment for aggravated drunk driving by the Pirkanmaa District Court. The matter was reported by Ilta-Sanomat.
A man from Tampere was guilty of two counts of aggravated drunk driving, endangering traffic safety, and driving a vehicle without a license in July in Tampere.
The first incident occurred in the parking area of Tokmanni in Lielahden, where the man backed his car into the wall of the store building twice. His blood alcohol concentration was 2.41 per mille. The police issued a driving ban to the man.
The driving ban did not prevent the man from driving again. He was caught the very next night, when his alcohol concentration was 1.54 per mille.
The court sentenced the man to three and a half months of conditional imprisonment and 65 day fines. The total amount of the fines is 910 euros. The sentence is final.
The man played hockey in the SM-liiga and the first division for a few seasons in the 1980s and 1990s.
