Incident in the NHL: Kasperi Kapanen injured again – teammates’ sticks took a beating
Kasperi Kapanen has been out of the Edmonton Oilers’ active roster since October 19 due to a lower body injury.
The Finnish winger has been practicing with his team in recent days, and his return to action has been considered just a matter of time. However, on Thursday evening, Finnish time, bad signals regarding Kapanen’s possible new injury surfaced on social media.
Oilers’ insider reporter Ryan Rishaugin shared a video on messaging service X from practice, showing Kapanen apparently injuring himself again as he left the ice during his team’s morning skate.
The furious player from Kuopio slammed his stick in frustration against the row of sticks belonging to players in the bench, causing the sticks to fly chaotically onto the ice (see the video below or here).
Kapanen’s start to the season has been anything but successful. The 30-year-old winger, who signed a one-year, $1.3 million extension with the Oilers at the end of June, has played only six games this season with stats of 0+2.
