IL: The captain of the league team was robbed in the rival camp – receives nearly double the salary!
The rumored transfer of Mikkelin Jukurit captain Jesper Piitulainen to KalPa has sparked a lot of discussion. It has now become clear that one of the main reasons for the transfer is a significant salary increase.
In Iltalehti’s Lätkäpodi, journalists Mikko Räsänen and Timo Kunnari reported that Jukurit offered the 34-year-old forward a contract extension with a salary of around 80,000 euros, which matches his current level. KalPa, on the other hand, offered about 150,000 euros for the season.
The difference is significant and practically decided the transfer.
– It’s practically impossible to refuse such an amount, it was assessed in Lätkäpodi.
Piitulainen has played for Jukurit for ten seasons and has served as the team’s captain for several seasons. In the recently concluded season, Piitulainen recorded 33 points with 13 goals and 20 assists in 58 games.
Earlier in his Liiga career, Piitulainen has also represented SaiPa and Lukko in addition to Jukurit.
