Huhumylly ohi: A huge deal has hit the NHL!
The transfer rumor surrounding star defenseman Bowen Byram, 24, continues his career with the Buffalo Sabres.
Sabres announces that they have signed a two-year extension deal with Byram. The contract guarantees the young star defenseman an average salary of $6.25 million.
Last week, the Sabres named Byram for arbitration, which was set to begin at the end of July. However, the parties reached an agreement early.
With the new contract, rumors of Byram being traded can at least be forgotten for now. According to Daily FaceOff, the Sabres would have been willing to trade Byram’s rights to another NHL team if the right offer had come in.
Byram has just completed the most productive NHL season of his career. He recorded 38 points in 82 games with a tally of 7+31.
After Byram’s contract, the Sabres have $7.4 million in salary cap space remaining.
