Patrik Laine’s name is once again prominently featured in NHL trade discussions as free agents hit the market on July 1st. Despite difficult recent seasons, there is still significant interest in the Finnish winger from several top teams.

The sports site The Score assesses in its latest forecast that the 28-year-old forward could end up with the Tampa Bay Lightning and continue his career in Florida.

– Laine could increase his value in Tampa Bay with a one-year contract while filling a role that has been missing for the Lightning over the past two seasons: a right-shot goal scorer on the power play from the left side, the site explains its choice.

There is also the background of the team’s previous change, when Steven Stamkos moved to the Nashville Predators two years ago, after which a similar role has not been fully filled.

– Laine could enjoy assists from Nikita Kucherov on the power play and play sheltered minutes at even strength. If he succeeds and stays healthy, he could be in line for a big contract next summer, The Score continues.

Last season, Laine’s role with the Montreal Canadiens was very limited, as he appeared in only five regular-season games with stats of 0+1.

Throughout his NHL career, he has accumulated statistics from 537 regular-season games, in which he has scored 224 goals and a total of 422 points (224+198).
