Historical revelation in the NHL – a pink jersey is coming, see the picture!

The NHL is preparing for the 2026–27 season with a new jersey concept, where each team will have access to a “Hometown Remix” third jersey. The goal is to showcase the identity of cities in a more free and experimental visual approach.

According to the YouTube channel Icethetics, there are already two leaks about the upcoming jerseys. The Florida Panthers are reportedly set to release the first pink jersey in NHL history. The jersey would feature a logo inspired by the team’s sunset. The New York Islanders, on the other hand, are returning to a more classic direction, bringing back their traditional sailor-themed uniform.

The topic also came up in the Daily Faceoff LIVE broadcast, where journalists Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton discussed the concept and its significance for the league.

– This is quite a significant thing, as the NHL has never seen an actual pink jersey used in games before. It shows that the league is clearly more ready to break traditions and try something new, Yaremchuk says.

He compared the phenomenon to other North American leagues.

– This is a bit like the MLB’s City Connect jerseys and the NBA’s City Edition models. Each team gets its own special version that relates to the city or the team’s identity.

Former NHL goalie Hutton reminisced about his time with the Rockford Ice Hogs, where it was common to release wild jerseys from time to time.

– I have also played in some pretty unique jerseys during my career, including pink ones. At first, they can feel strange, but you quickly get used to it on the ice, and fans usually like them because they stand out clearly.

– Ultimately, this is largely about wanting to create new fan merchandise and bring entertainment to the league. But it’s still great to see that the NHL dares to try something so different, Hutton says.
