HIFK has received very bad news from the infirmary.

The club announces that the captain for the upcoming season, Iiro Pakarinen, will be sidelined for the entire fall season due to injury. His injury requires surgery, which means he is expected to return to the playing field only in January, according to the current assessment.

– Of course, this is extremely unfortunate news for Iiro and the whole team. This allows players to grow and take on bigger roles in our team. Playing time is constantly evaluated, and the team’s situation will be reacted to as needed. Knowing Iiro, he will give his all for the team even during his recovery and will return even stronger, commented HIFK’s sports director Janne Pesonen in the club’s announcement.

Pakarinen, 34, won the league’s scoring title last season with 30 goals.
