HIFK has received the long-awaited reinforcement for Wednesday’s lineup as they face KalPa in their home arena.
The team captain named for this season, Iiro Pakarinen, will play his season opener. He has been placed directly into HIFK’s first line, where he will play alongside Jori Lehterä and Kasper Lundell.
Pakarinen, 34, had to miss the entire fall season due to injury. HIFK announced in September that Pakarinen’s injury required surgical treatment.
Pakarinen won the league’s goal scoring title last season, scoring 30 goals.
