HIFK facing more difficulties? Star forward threatened with suspension
HIFK has been in big trouble in the latest Liiga rounds. First, the Helsinki team suffered a 0-6 defeat to Ilves and most recently a 1-6 loss to KooKoo.
From the KooKoo match, HIFK may receive other bad news besides just the poor result. The team’s star forward Iiro Pakarinen is under closer scrutiny from the disciplinary committee.
At the beginning of the third period, Pakarinen tackled KooKoo’s Samuel Valkeejärvi in such a way that Pakarinen’s shoulder hit the opponent directly in the head. Pakarinen was given a match penalty for the tackle.
Later, the league’s disciplinary committee announced that it would take a closer look at the matter. It remains to be seen whether Pakarinen will receive a suspension for his tackle.
Pakarinen was sidelined at the beginning of the season due to injury. He has only played four matches, in which he has recorded stats of 1+1=2.
