HIFK captain Ilari Melart: terrible news!
The concerns of HIFK, struggling in a disastrous injury and loss situation, are not easing.
Most recently, the team’s Ilari Melart has fallen to the injured list and will be out of the lineup for Friday’s game against Tappara. The HIFK captain played his first game of the season on Wednesday against JYP.
The 36-year-old defensive giant has had his last few years marred by injuries. Melart played 40 regular-season games per season over the last two seasons.
Currently, the list of absent HIFK defenders is a terrifying read. Along with Melart, Petteri Lindbohm, Aron Kiviharju, Niklas Nykyri, Arttu Kärki, Bruno Jalasti, and Matias Rajaniemi are also sidelined.
The starting conditions for the Helsinki team in the Tappara game to be played in Tampere on Friday are otherwise bleak. The team has gone scoreless in their last six away games. The Helsinki team travels to Tampere on a five-game losing streak.
