Here is the Kiekko-Espoo captaincy – gold lion with a C on the chest!
The captaincy for Kiekko-Espoo’s 2026-27 season is set. The team has named experienced forward Jere Sallinen as its new captain, who returned to his hometown club on a three-year contract.
Sallinen, 35, has won two World Championship gold medals with the Lions during his career. In the league, he has previously served as captain of HIFK and as captain of Örebro in Sweden. For the last five seasons, Sallinen played for EHC Biel-Bienne in Switzerland.
The alternate captains for Kiekko-Espoo’s upcoming season are defender Ville Lajunen and forward Matti Järvinen. They are the captains from the team’s last two seasons, with Järvinen serving as captain last season and Lajunen the season before that.
Also included in the captaincy group are forward Jani Lajunen and defender Kristian Näkyvä.
