Here is the biggest weakness of the USA – “Bambi” Lehtonen highlighted the Lions’ strike location
The Lions face the reigning world champion USA in their group stage match on Monday of the World Championships. Finland enters the match as the favorite, although the surprise potential of the young American team should not be underestimated.
Viaplay expert Mikko “Bambi” Lehtonen highlights one area where the Lions are ahead of the USA.
– The USA has had star-studded teams (in the World Championships) in recent years. Now they are full of future stars. The young guys are stepping into the tough professional games of adulthood in the NHL, some have already done so, like Ryan Leonard in Washington.
– But most of them are still a bit light for adult games, and that has been evident in these first games, Lehtonen observes.

The USA’s confidence is in any case in place.
– The USA has been a hockey superpower for the last five years. They won gold at the World Championships last year, won Olympic gold in both men’s and women’s categories, and in U20. The USA has overtaken Canada, Lehtonen reminds.
– This young group should not be underestimated in any way. A very skilled, individual-driven group, Lehtonen adds and reminds that the talented American team is most dangerous especially in power plays.
Lehtonen’s expert partner Jussi Jokinen shares the same view.
– Many of them are playing in a big rink for the first time in their lives, and that has been visible in the first games. Finland is the favorite, but the USA is a dangerous counterattack team, Jokinen summarizes.
