Finland clearly falls behind in the comparison. The total NHL season salary of Finnish players is about 117 million dollars, which is significantly less than that of other top countries. The United States leads the list with nearly 200 million dollars in total, followed by Canada with about 10 million dollars less. The salaries of Swedish players exceed 160 million dollars, while the Czech team falls significantly behind by about 66 million dollars.
The highest-paid player in the tournament is Germany’s Leon Draisaitl, whose cap hit is 14 million dollars. Following him are Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, and Connor McDavid. Finland’s highest-paid player is Mikko Rantanen, who earns a salary of 12 million dollars. Rantanen is the fifth highest-earning player in the tournament.
