Here are the 50 best players in the NHL – this is how the Finnish stars were ranked
The NHL season kicks off this week. Ahead of the season, NHL Network has ranked the top 50 players in the league.
A total of four Finnish players made the list. The highest-ranked Finnish player is Florida Panthers’ Aleksander Barkov, who was evaluated as the seventh-best player in the entire NHL. Barkov missed the entire last season due to injury.
Dallas Stars’ Mikko Rantanen and Miro Heiskanen are found on the list right next to each other. Rantanen took the 19th spot, while Heiskanen was placed immediately after him at 20th.
The Finnish quartet is completed by Carolina Hurricanes’ Sebastian Aho. Aho, who celebrated winning the Stanley Cup last season, is ranked 36th on the list.
NHL Network predictably placed Connor McDavid at the top of the list. Nathan MacKinnon secured the second spot, and Nikita Kucherov came in third.
