Greed strikes! Toronto is ready to trade its NHL star
An extremely interesting name has emerged in the NHL trade market in recent weeks. The Toronto Maple Leafs are considering parting ways with star forward Matthew Knies.
This season, Knies has been Toronto’s second most effective player. The 23-year-old winger has recorded 57 points in 67 games with 18 goals and 39 assists.
Knies has the potential for even higher point totals, but he is not being traded because the team is dissatisfied with him.
– To my knowledge, the reason Toronto is willing to trade him is that the asking prices for Kyrou and Thomas in the trade market were so high. If they can get three first-round picks for him, the trade should be considered, says NHL reporter David Pagnotta.
Toronto’s season has been a severe disappointment. The team is second to last in the Eastern Conference, despite having used nearly their entire salary cap.
