The Lions’ World Championship training group has received three high-profile reinforcements from North America. New players joining the group are Nashville Predators’ goalkeeper Justus Annunen, Winnipeg Jets’ defender Ville Heinola, and Vancouver Canucks’ forward Aatu Räty.

– Annunen has shown great performances in the NHL. He has a strong desire to showcase his skills in goal for the Lions as well, GM Jere Lehtinen commented on the Lions’ website.

– Heinola and Räty will be seen in the A national team lineup for the first time this spring. It’s always great when new players step up to the men’s national team.

Annunen had a strong season in the role of Nashville’s backup goalie. In 28 NHL games, his save percentage was 90.7.

Heinola’s NHL breakthrough is still pending. This season, the puck-moving defender played five NHL games without any points and 44 AHL games with stats of 3+18=21.

Räty, on the other hand, scored 4+10=14 points in 66 games on Vancouver’s lower lines.

Annunen will join the Lions’ journey in the Sweden EHT tournament. Heinola and Räty will be seen in the Finnish lineup already at the Czech EHT.
