Golden Lion Hannes Björninen was injured – now it looked bad
The Finnish forward Hannes Björninen, who is part of the Lion’s roster and represents SCL Tigers in the Swiss league, suffered a serious-looking injury during the regular season finale against Zürich Lions on Monday night.
Björninen, 30, injured his leg in a collision with his own team’s defender Phil Baltisberger. The situation looked immediately serious.
The World and Olympic gold medalist Björninen was able to get back on his feet but could not put any weight on his left leg at all. Eventually, he was assisted from the bench to the locker room for further examination.
The injury was particularly unfortunate for Björninen as it was the Tigers’ last game of the season. The team missed the playoffs in the Swiss league.
The Finnish forward has had a difficult season with injuries. Björninen was sidelined for a long time at the turn of the year due to a knee injury.
