The Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights made a significant player trade on Saturday, with star defenseman Rasmus Andersson moving to Vegas.
The Flames receive in exchange defenseman Zach Whitecloud, Vegas’s 2027 first-round draft pick, a conditional second-round pick for the same year, and the rights to young defenseman Abram Wiebe.
The conditional pick becomes a first-round pick if the Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup. The Flames already hold Vegas’s 2026 first-round pick.
The Flames took on half of Andersson’s $4.55 million annual salary as part of the trade. The Swedish defenseman’s current contract expires at the end of this season.
Andersson has scored 10 goals and 20 assists in 48 games this season.
