The Edmonton Oilers, who reached the finals in the last two seasons in the NHL, will receive a long-awaited star reinforcement in their lineup this weekend.

The team has activated Zach Hyman, who has been sidelined for the entire early season due to injury, into their active roster. Hyman is expected to play his first game of the season against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday night, Finnish time.

Hyman underwent wrist surgery during last season’s conference finals. The star winger, who scored 54 goals in the regular season two seasons ago, netted 27 goals and 44 points in 73 regular season games last year. In 15 playoff games, the 33-year-old veteran collected 5 goals and 6 assists for a total of 11 points.

The significance of Hyman’s return is substantial, especially for the Oilers’ power play. The goal scorer netted an impressive 15 power play goals two seasons ago.
