Former league forward heads to Russia – it was tough in the NHL
Former KooKoo forward Nikita Aleksandrov is moving to the KHL. Russian media Sport.ru reports that the 25-year-old player is making a contract with the Shanghai Dragons.
Aleksandrov played for KooKoo in the 2020–21 season. He appeared in 28 games in the Liiga and scored nine (3+6) points.
However, KooKoo was a short stop in Aleksandrov’s career. The forward, born and raised in Germany, later moved to junior leagues in Canada, and his professional career eventually took him to North America.
The St. Louis Blues drafted Aleksandrov in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2022–23 season and also played in the league the following season.
Aleksandrov accumulated a total of 51 NHL games. In those, he scored nine (3+6) points.
The last two seasons have been spent entirely in the AHL. Aleksandrov played 236 games in the farm league and collected 185 (74+111) points.
