Florida Panthers strengthens with a 700 NHL-game veteran
The Florida Panthers have added more physicality to their offense in the NHL trade market. The Panthers and Philadelphia Flyers executed a trade on Thursday, in which Florida acquired veteran power forward Garnet Hathaway, 34.
In the deal, the Panthers also receive a sixth-round draft pick for this weekend’s NHL Draft. The Flyers, in return, get a fifth-round draft pick for this summer and a fourth-round draft pick for 2027.
As part of the trade, Philadelphia will also take on half of Hathaway’s $2.4 million annual salary. The veteran winger’s current contract expires next summer.
Hathaway has played over 700 games in his NHL career, including regular season and playoffs. He represented the Flyers for three seasons and recorded 1+2=3 in 66 regular season games last season.
Hathaway is expected to bring physicality, experience, and penalty-killing skills to the Panthers’ fourth line.
